Galen Gritts
Convening ringleader
Galen Gritts is a registered member of the Cherokee Nation. Born and reared in St. Louis, Gritts often writes and speaks about Native history and his experience as a modern Cherokee. He is a board member of the Missouri Chapter of the National Trail of Tears Association; member of the Disparities Elimination Advisory Committee (DEAC); and advisor for the Program for the Elimination of Cancer Disparities (PECaD) under the partnership of Siteman Cancer Center, Washington University School of Medicine, and Barnes-Jewish Hospital, representing the local Native American community. Gritts recently completed a six-year appointment as a speaker for the Missouri Humanities Council and has a degree in history from the University of Missouri St. Louis.
